This was a nice break from dogs. Not only did I enjoy painting this beautiful horse, but loved the metal and leather of the bridle, as well.

This is Angela, who is sadly no longer with us, but her bright spirit and dignity live on in paint. 10% of all sighthound project painting sales during this month (April, 2014), are being donated to Beverly Farmer Podencos, who rescued Angela, and so generously allowed me to paint from her photo.

SOLD

Continuing with the sighthound series, this beautiful Podenco is Jazzy, who is in the care of Beverly Farmer Podencos, who very graciously let me paint from her beautiful photo. I loved the photo so much, I decided to paint this one a little larger than the previous paintings in the series. I was drawn to the warm colors and wanted to capture the feeling of the hot sun on the building and dog. I'm donating 10% of the proceeds from the sighthound series this month to Beverley Farmer Podencos. Check out the work they're doing to help these dogs in need. Here are a few close up shots:

This is my greyhound Sephiroth, his coloring lends itself surprisingly well to black and white. His amber eyes stare right into my soul, in this drawing as well as in real life..

This is Dodger, who looks very similar to my girl Train. It's so much fun to paint dogs that are brindle and white, it's like the best of both worlds.

Pharaoh Hound painting, Greyhound and Afghan Hound drawings

43 - Pharaoh Hound, 5 x 7 inch oil on panel

I had a lot of fun with this little painting, the reference photo lent itself well to the imagination.

Nothing more relaxing than to spend an evening drawing. This is my lovely boy, Sephiroth. I had a mat that fit perfectly, so this drawing comes ready to frame:

Continuing the Sighthound Project with our girl Train. Yes, you read that right. Train is no longer a foster, but a member of the family. We all fell in love with her and the feeling seemed mutual - she found her forever home right here.

The next painting in the Sighthound Project is a companion piece to Day 12 (the other IG in the family needed his portrait on the bed, too.) This one is up there with my personal favorites - it's such a relaxing painting, and the colors... they make me very happy.

I'm continuing my sighthound project with my new foster greyhound, Train. It won't be as ambitious as posting every day, but as often as I can. I'd like to feature a different rescue each month, and donate 10% of the proceeds. This month it is Baas Galgo Association

Here's a few more pictures of Train. She is such a sweetheart, we're very happy she's here.

Lurcher Commission

Floss, 14 x 14 inch oil on linen

It felt so good to paint something big, (or at least bigger than a 6 x 6 inch.) This is Floss, a lovely Lurcher girl. I've included a close up shot of her collar and tag - it's so much fun to paint brass:
