I have four paintings in the 2015 6"Squared show at the Randy Higbee Gallery in Costa Mesa, California. This is a really fun show to be a part of, lovingly called The Greatest Small Works Show on Earth - hundreds of paintings, each one is 6 x 6 inches, and beautifully framed by the gallery. The opening reception is Saturday, Dec. 5th.

Greyhound Painting
Capone, 12 x 12 inch, oil on panel
© 2015 Kathleen Coy
Another recent greyhound painting. A VERY similar pose to the previous post.. However, in addition to being a different dog altogether, the lighting situations are completely different. (Strong sunlight vs overcast light.) It's interesting how many different ways a similar pose can be painted. I like the dreamy feel to this piece.

Legendary Greyhound sire, Molotov

It was a great honor to be asked to paint the legendary greyhound sire, Molotov, as a gift for his owner. Molotov was his heart dog, and I'm told he still visits his grave often to talk with him. This painting is special to me, as Molotov is my greyhound Sephiroth (Do Hicky)'s great-grandsire.

Greyhound Paintings
Catching up the blog with some recent greyhound paintings. The first is an experimental painting of my greyhound, Train. I wanted to capture her intensity and focus with dramatic lighting. It was also my first time using lead white, which has earned a permanent place on my palette.
I was honored to paint the magnificent Blazin Wildfire and Pat C Sabbath:
