The Happiest Ending...
I am thrilled. My painting of Nigel Buggers that was auctioned for A Place to Bark last week was given to Nigel's Two-Legger, otherwise known as "The Author," by the winning bidder. Some of Nigel's biggest fans pooled their resources to help this wonderful cause, and then gave the painting to the people who would love it best in the whole world.
I am so touched at their thoughtfulness, and the money they raised. This was such a wonderful experience to be a part of. Dogs, and dog rescue, mirror our very best qualities. I would say that's why we love them so.
When I first contacted "Mr. Author" about painting the infamous Nigel for a charity auction, he was extremely helpful and as enthusiastic as I was. He is both an eloquent and hilarious asset to the dog world, (I know Nigel is laughing because I said "asset") and the story of this painting couldn't have had a happier ending...
You can read his post about the experience here.
Much love,
What a great outcome! A fantastic painting too Kathleen)
ReplyDeleteThat's just a wonderful story and your painting is fantastic, Kathleen. I read the other blog post too - heartwarming!
ReplyDeleteOh my oh my oh my. That is just the coolest thing. The Author's recap of picking it up from the post office brought warm, happy tears to this one's eyes. Being part of this experience surely will be a memory for you that will last a lifetime.
ReplyDeleteKathleen, that is so incredibly awesome. Both your painting AND the story.
ReplyDeleteThis is just the best Thanksgiving week story! How many people, including dogs, have been touched by your gift. You have a generous heart.
ReplyDeleteYou said asset. :)
ReplyDeleteI can't say enough about what a great experience this has been from start to finish. Thank you so much for offering - you were the impetus!

Fantastic work, great ending. Linda :)x
ReplyDeleteWell, Kathleen, this is a fabulous painting as well as a wonderful portrait! What I mean is, it stands on it's own with a commanding composition, as well as being a wonderfully rendered portrait. I agree about dog rescue mirroring out very best qualities. I have suspicions about people who are not animal lovers... why not?
