What is it with me and long haired dogs in the wind? This was my biggest challenge of these 30 paintings so far... I didn't even know where to start! I decided not to do any kind of drawing first, instead jumped right in making marks with the paints, looking for big shapes and refining as I went along. This approach helped keep me from getting bogged down with the details of all that hair. In the end, I'm extremely pleased with how this one turned out...

Looks like this was fun to paint with all that hair. Great job!
This is gorgeous! Tons of movement and energy!
Hi Kathleen! You have catched the beauty and the spirit of Afghan hound! I have had three amazing Afghans in my life and they are the most unique dogs I know. Their beautiful, light fur flies in the wind like in your painting. Also their mind flies on their own way - they are such a personalities! Thank you for a lovely moment with your gorgeus painting! x Teje
Love this one! Well done...
It worked out just great! So much energy and wonderful color. I've seen similar photos and I know their crazy hair does this crazy thing! (At one time I wanted an Afghan Hound but then I found out they are, well, not the smartest. Add that to the upkeep on their coats and well, maybe not for me!) :)
Thank you all for sharing your thoughts, I love hearing more about these dogs! This painting is one of my favorites so far, glad you like it, too!
