My Greyhound painting Retired, Rescued, Loved is in an online exhibit for the Canine Art Guild's annual "Helping Paws" show. This is a charity show with a percentage of the proceeds going towards the rescue or shelter of the artists choice. Proceeds of this painting go to Greyhounds Unlimited.

Here is a quick video of the painting process. I hope you enjoy it:

Oil portrait of an ex racing greyhound. 11 x 14 inch, oil on canvas. Artist: Kathleen Coy. Music: Nick Drake, Road.

In addition to the sale proceeds, the Helping Paws Exhibit donates the first, second and third place prize money to the artist's rescue or shelter. The winners are determined by online voting. Voting is easy, just make sure you scroll to the bottom of the page to submit your vote.

Here is a link to the exhibit. Thanks for voting, and enjoy the wonderful canine art and photos!

I thoroughly enjoyed this painting from start to finish. Not only are brindle dogs very beautiful, the brindle coat pattern is a lot of fun to paint! Here are a few photos of the process:

The toned canvas and underpainting:

A shot of the reference photo in the background. The background is started, along with the top half of his head:

Coming along nicely:

And once again, the finished painting. I love the colors, his expression, the gold metal on his collar, and the silver tag.

I hope you enjoyed seeing the process of this piece. The title is Retired, Rescued, Loved. Show details to come soon.

Much love,
