Eagle sketch.
My friend Jen at Gypsy Mare Studios posted some lovely sketches and asked to see a peek at other artists sketchbooks. I don't sketch as much as I probably should. I need to work on that because I do enjoy it. Some of these are a few years old.
Quick little wolf study.
I love polar bears! I think her head looks too small.
Cloud and Boomer.
Some tigers. The last one is a self-portrait pastel sketch of my hidden tiger (or was that crouching tiger?) Yes, I was a blond then. I'm not crazy about working with pastels - can't stand how messy they are, so I admire people who create with them.

Really nice. I love the look of the eagle.
AWESOME! Love the Tiger/lady. It's really kinda sexy:)
Also liked the one with Boomer & Cloud.
Thank you!
Jen
Wonderful sketchbook! I don't sketch near enough. Love the eagle and the tiger/lady-two powerful pieces!
Kathy, teach me how to use colored pencils or pastels (whatever that is) like you do. I want to do more art, and you are so amazing! :)
Very cool! I'm glad to see you are working on your own tiger painting. I'm sure one of your allies must be a tiger.
Love the tigers! Your sketches are great, can't wait to see what you do with them when you get a paintbrush in your hand!
Thank you, thank you! You are all so sweet. :-)
Hey Kristal, you can come over sometime and we'll have an art day! :-)
Akiko, yes he is...I've known it at my deepest level since I was about 4 years old!
Thank you, Kimberly. I have so many paintings inside that are waiting to come out, sometimes it feels like I'm going to explode, heehee!
Gorgeous! I love polar bears in artwork...one day I will paint my own version of the 'East of the sun' tale :)
The tiger is amazing!
Pst...got something for ya..come on over! *grins*
The tiger self-portrait is too cool!
Those are good..I don't even sketch anymore and should!
What are you talking about, these are great! And show a great understanding of the underlying structure of the animals you paint. I continue to try to sketch, not because I can, but precisely because I can't! It's a love/hate thing I guess.
um did you just say you didn't sketch well?? Yeah ok, I don't sketch at all! You are awesome!
Thanks Julia, 7, Marnie, Waterbaby and TW. I guess the first paragraph was my roundabout way of saying I need to work on sketching more often, because I know it's important - sharpens your eye and technique and all. :-)
Beautiful sketches! I don't sketch half as much as I should...I used to carry a sketchbook everywhere I went, but lately I've been very lazy about it. You and Jen are inspiring me to do more!

Lovely to see your sketches! I rarely sketch these days, though I doodle constantly.
Love your inner tiger!
I like the wolf, your sketch book is a piece of art itself, do you know I don't have one, I doodle and that's about it, usually on the corner of the newspaper!
That last one is really interesting to look at...I like it. Glad you posted them all.
wow. your art is amazing. sometimes sexy. i love the tiger sketches. one of the tiger sketches is my backround. lol. i love it so much. o look at it and it reminds me of how powerful of an effect art has on people.
Hi Laurel, thank you for the very nice comment. I really appreciate what you said, and I'm glad you love the tiger sketches.
